Building the sustainable-agriculture programme
A Shanghai working meeting on 8 November 2023 brought the association’s Sustainable Development Commission into discussion of agricultural technology, international cooperation and cultural communication, helping shape the programme that developed into the GSSA summit series.

Secretary General Zhang Qi met Sun Xi, the commission’s executive vice chairman, at Jinsui Building in Shanghai. Their discussion addressed sustainable agricultural development and how international cooperation could support it.
The report considered programme divisions in Brazil and Malaysia, funding for member initiatives and the use of film and television to communicate agriculture’s role. It also discussed a future commission gathering in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur; these were planning discussions at the time.

The third GSSA brought sustainable-agriculture dialogue to Hefei and Bengbu on 9–10 April 2026. The programme joined farmer experience, technology, food security and ESG with exhibition visits and discussions about agricultural processing and bio-based production.
