The association

A shared future, rooted in farming.

World Farmer Association brings agricultural communities into a wider conversation about food security, livelihoods, knowledge and international trade.

01

Farmers belong at the centre.

Food security is shaped by everyday decisions on farms: when to plant, how to manage water, where to sell and how to carry risk between seasons. Those decisions also depend on systems beyond the farm gate.

WFA’s purpose is to connect farmer interests with the institutions, knowledge and commercial relationships that influence those systems. Our focus spans cultivation, livestock, fisheries, forestry, rural enterprise and the movement of agricultural goods.

02

From shared concerns to practical exchange.

The association’s history is built through meetings, technical visits and dialogue across different agricultural economies. The Global Farmers Forum and the Global Summit on Sustainable Agriculture provide distinct settings for this exchange.

Listen locally

Understand conditions through farmers and the organizations that work alongside them.

Connect internationally

Bring production, science, trade and policy perspectives together across borders.

Translate into opportunity

Focus discussion on the relationships and infrastructure that make agricultural cooperation workable.

03

Our name has changed. Our purpose continues.

The association began its public history as the World Peasant Association. It now uses World Farmer Association, reflecting a contemporary, inclusive language for the people and enterprises who sustain agricultural communities.

Historical publications retain their original names, including WPA and the Global Peasant Organization. Our archive preserves those references so that earlier meetings and coverage remain discoverable.

04

Cooperation with substance.

Respect for different agricultural traditions, transparent communication and practical relevance guide the association’s work. A productive exchange starts with a clearly defined need and continues through people who can help address it.

WFA’s institutional ambition is to bring farmer voices closer to the design of trade, technology and rural finance. The World Agriculture Bank initiative forms part of that longer-term direction.
