From the first congress in Zhejiang to exchanges across the Mediterranean and Southeast Asia, the association’s history is one of connection.
Beginning in Yiwu, 2022.
The first international congress and farmers forum took place in Yiwu, Zhejiang, on 15–16 December 2022. The programme connected cooperation-network building with the digital economy and modern agriculture.
The historical record describes the election of the first executive and youth committees and the release of a farmers cooperation initiative. The association was then known as World Peasant Association.
Food security became a recurring thread.
The second forum in Guangzhou in November 2023 focused on food security and agricultural trade. The third forum’s main meeting took place in Limassol, Cyprus, on 4 November 2024, followed by a separate crop-science and food-security seminar in Athens on 7 November.
The fourth forum met in Vientiane and Macao on successive days in November 2025, linking agricultural cooperation with digital trade and green logistics.

The current name expresses the continuing focus on farming communities and their place in a connected world. Earlier publications retain their original terminology and are linked from the historical archive.
The Global Summit on Sustainable Agriculture is a separate event series. Its documented meetings include Singapore in 2024, Hainan in 2025 and Hefei–Bengbu in April 2026.
