Sri Lanka: resilience and smallholder livelihoods
A meeting with Sri Lanka’s high commissioner in Singapore explored agricultural resilience, efficiency and value-added production. Monsoon-dependent farming and the pressures on smallholders provided the context for discussion of knowledge exchange and future cooperation.

The meeting took place on the afternoon of 5 August 2025, with a commercial counsellor also attending. The association’s account identifies climate change, water constraints, production costs and smallholder vulnerability as topics in the discussion.
The high commissioner invited a future agricultural field visit to Sri Lanka and welcomed participation in the GSSA programme. The invitations reflected an interest in strengthening sustainable production and farmer livelihoods through closer exchange.
