Agricultural biotechnology and small-farmer needs
An online China–Brazil discussion explored agricultural biotechnology through the needs of small farmers. WFA, CACA and Brazil’s Movimento dos Pequenos Agricultores considered specialist inputs, technical training and the practical work required to assess potential agricultural cooperation projects.

The discussion took place in the early hours of 6 September 2023. Participants examined agricultural biotechnology initiatives involving the Brazilian small-farmer movement, including specialist fertilizers, pest-management technologies, market analysis and feasibility studies.
The exchange considered cooperation mechanisms and farmer training as well as technical possibilities. Its focus was the potential to reduce production costs and improve efficiency; the meeting report documents exploration of projects rather than verified implementation results.
