Camellia Whispers: a village story on film
The first-prize short film Camellia Whispers tells the story of a Zhejiang village’s camellia-growing industry. The association’s competition feature brings rural enterprise, shared prosperity and artistic storytelling together through a fictionalised narrative grounded in a real community.

Directed by Hua Wang and He Zairui, with writer Xu Xiangyun and Zhejiang Huidu Film, the film draws on Xiazhangjia village in Zhuma, Jinhua. Its story follows village leadership and decades of work developing a camellia industry.
The feature describes an imaginative narrative using a camellia fairy to connect the village’s experiences. The archive includes the film’s promotional image and an award-certificate presentation; these are cultural-programme material, separate from a meeting gallery.
